Détails

The Unified Land Rights Research Project aims to explore the unique landscape of land ownership in Canada, focusing on parcels where private owners hold unified surface, mineral, and water rights. This project addresses the challenge of identifying such parcels, particularly those originating from legacy grants, and determining if these rights remain unified today. The goal is to provide a comprehensive understanding of the current status of these rights across Canada. Learners will delve into historical and legal research, utilizing various sources to trace the evolution of land rights. The project will also involve examining provincial and territorial laws to understand the legal framework governing these rights. This research will enhance learners' skills in legal research, data analysis, and report writing, applying classroom knowledge to a real-world scenario.

- Research parcels of land with unified rights.

- Focus on legacy grants and current status.

- Examine provincial and territorial laws.

- Apply legal research and data analysis skills.

Livrables

The deliverables for this project include a concise report summarizing the methods, sources, and key findings of the research. In cases where such parcels cannot be found, the report will include relevant laws addressing land rights in each province and territory.

Additionally, a detailed spreadsheet will be created, listing the identified locations across Canada where unified land rights exist. This project will culminate in a comprehensive presentation of findings.

  • Concise report on research methods, findings and applicable laws on land use limitations
  • Spreadsheet of locations with unified rights.
