Rétroaction de projet
The University of Sussex is very grateful to IMA International for hosting yet another student group as part of our Student Consultancy Programme. They provided an interesting live business challenge for students to tackle part-time over a 4-week period. The majority of students taking part in the programme are from underrepresented backgrounds, often with low confidence, and they provided a supportive space that empowered students to develop transferable skills, including team work, communications and delivering a business-style presentation. Thank you again for taking part in the programme.

Competitor analysis in training and consultancy services in the development sector 2

IMA has been running face-to-face open trainings in Bangkok, Brighton, London, Cape Town and Brussels in Knowledge Management, Monitoring and Evaluation, Leadership and Management in Development, Theory of Change and Results Based Management amongst many others. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic these courses have been moved to the online space in 2020. The pandemic has changed the way professionals working in the development and humanitarian sector seek training and adult learning opportunities for their own skill development. Moving back to face-to face open trainings - while flight ticket prices are skyrocketing, border controls and getting visa for training are getting more difficult, people are more conscious of their carbon footprint - IMA seeks to understands whether there is a market for face-to-face open trainings. We would like to understand whether there are other face-to -face training providers in the regions where we used to organise open trainings, where do professionals join these from, what is the providers’ approach and what organisations/clients are they working with. This consultancy project would include research and competitor analysis in South-East Asia focusing on training opportunities related to Knowledge Management, Monitoring and Evaluation, Leadership and Management in Development, Theory of Change and Results Based Management available face-to-face. The research will include collecting and reviewing other organisations in the region through professional platforms, and social media channels. IMA will also provide the list of competitors identified in the subjects mentioned above over the past years.  The main goal is to identify competitors (private sector and NGOs) who deliver training or organisational development & capacity building consultancies in the countries face-to-face, and identify their clients & marketing channels eg.: newsletters, social media, professional sites etc.

Advising on Potential Partnerships to Better Support Local Capacity Building

Based in Hurstpierpoint, near Brighton, IMA International delivers training, international development consultancy, coaching and mentoring to build capacity in international development programmes globally. Established in 1983, our 40 years’ experience in international development is with teams working in the public and private sector, UN Agencies, academia, and International NGOs. Due to the high emphasis on localisation and building capacity in local partners internationally in the development and humanitarian sectors, IMA is trying to reach local NGOs with trainings. However, local NGO practices and opportunities for capacity building is limited (compared to INGOs, UN Agencies). This consultancy aims to advise IMA on potential routes for supporting local NGOs through partnerships with foundations, philanthropic organisations and organisations` grants supporting local partners.

Strategy Report

Our work cuts across all sectors and yet currently many of our projects support natural resources, environment, climate change and biodiversity projects, programmes, organisations, and government departments. We have a commitment as an organisation to supporting people achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 2030). Our project suggestion is to work with us to identify ways to support the acceleration of SDGs focusing on environment and biodiversity (SDG 13, 14, 15, 16, 17). The project will likely look to key organisations and countries (likely to be LDC’s) that if we work with will really begin to make a difference. We will need to look at our strategic direction moving towards achieving SDGs with these organisations as we approach 2030, and potentially explore options beyond this towards the next phase of SDGs. Students could either look at our existing relationships - by understanding these relationships and knowing what is in it for both parties and explore new potentials.
